Questions people ask

Why does my light look different from the colour I picked?

Because a bulb can only make the colours its LEDs can make. Saturated cyan and deep purple are usually the first to look wrong.

Kelvin or mireds?

Home Assistant accepts both. Mireds are 1,000,000 divided by the Kelvin value, and lower mireds mean cooler light — the opposite direction to Kelvin, which is why it trips people up.

What is xy?

CIE 1931 coordinates: a way of naming a colour that does not depend on the device. Philips Hue and most Zigbee bulbs speak it natively.
