Small tools for people who run their own smart home

Every one of these exists because something broke in my own house at eleven at night and there was no tool for it. They all run in your browser — your config never leaves your machine.

Fix something that broke

• Legacy template converter Sensors went "unavailable" or automations stopped firing silently. Paste the old YAML, get the modern syntax.
• YAML config checker Home Assistant says "invalid config" and nothing else. This says which line, what is wrong and how to fix it.
• Secrets finder Finds the passwords, tokens and API keys sitting in plain sight in your config, and writes your secrets.yaml for you.
• Jinja template checker The template that returns nothing, or breaks the whole file. Finds the unclosed tag, the wrong filter and the classic float without a default.
• Entity ID renamer Renamed an entity and half your automations died. Paste the config, get every reference updated — and a list of what changed.
• Database size planner Your database is 20 GB. Work out what is filling it and get the recorder block — without killing your Energy dashboard.
• Automation not triggering It loads, it looks right, and it never runs. Finds the trigger that cannot fire, the condition that is never true, and the `on` that YAML turned into a boolean.

Plan your setup

• Zigbee / Wi-Fi channel planner Your Zigbee devices keep dropping? Your Wi-Fi is probably sitting on top of them. This tells you which channel to move to.
• Mesh coverage planner How many mains-powered devices you need, and where, so the far bedroom stops dropping off the map.
• Running cost calculator What each always-on device really costs you per year — including the ones that cost more in standby than in use.
• Battery life estimator How long that door sensor will last before you are up a ladder again, and what makes it worse.

Write config faster

• Duration converter Seconds to HH:MM:SS and back, in every format Home Assistant accepts for delay, for and timeouts.
• Light colour converter RGB, HSV, XY, Kelvin and hex — the five ways Home Assistant asks for a colour, converted at once.
• Time trigger builder Every five minutes, on the hour, at half past — the time_pattern syntax that everyone looks up every single time.
• Availability template Stops a sensor going "unknown" every time its source blinks. Generates the availability block that prevents it.
• MQTT discovery builder The discovery payload that makes a device appear in Home Assistant by itself, without a line of YAML.
